DURO achieve ISO14001:2004 environmental certification

On 19th August 2011 Duro were presented with their ISO 14001 environmental certification by QMS (Quality Management Systems). "We have always tried to ensure that we act responsibly towards the environment. This certification is only the starting point for us as we drive towards using as close to 100% recycled materials in our business as is possible. We are creating a company culture, which encourages all employees to think green and act accordingly. We are naturally proud of our achievement but will now focus on how we can continue to reduce our overall carbon footprint', commented David Beaumont, quality manager for Duro.

DURO launch HDF technology diamond blades 

1st July 2011

Duro, the UK based super abrasive specialist has launched it's new HDF technology range of diamond blades, utilising a patented new technology, which draws from the critical car component manufacturing industry. HDF (High Density Forged) provides a product with much greater stability, safety and higher performance than traditional diamond blades and have already secured major contracts in the UK. DURO employees take part in charity bike ride and run 70 miles apart!!

On 4th September, six of Duro's team will be taking part in a 50 mile bike ride for Yorkshire Cancer Research. The ride takes place in Leeds starting from Harwood House, the team have been training now for weeks to ensure everyone makes the 'hilly' course without too many aches or pains. Simultaneusly, another Duro employee, Andrew Robinson will be running a half marathon in Blackpool to support a special charity close to his heart, Derian House, who provide support for families and patients like Andrews young nephew Elliot who suffered a brain injury shortly after birth..............we wish everyone the best of luck in their efforts.

NEW HDF Range of diamond blades seal the deal.

Duro win a new 3 year contract for the exclusive supply of diamond blades into Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions. The new contract which starts from 1st September 2011 is for Duro to deliver it's new DPA/C specification of diamond cutting blades, utilising the new HDF technology and the supply of dust suppression tanks. The contract is to supply Nationally to more than 50 locations. As the market leader in the utility sector, 'we are very proud to have won this contract and that we have remained as the chosen single source supplier to BBUS for more than 6 years now' commented Duro's managing director Paul Morewood.

DURO appoint new Area Sales Manager for the South West of England.

Jim Hughes has been appointed as Area Sales Manager for the South West of England for Duro following a long and successful career in the power tool industry. Jim took responsibility for the region from the beginning of June 2011.

DURO open second warehouse facility

Duro opened the doors of it's new 15,000 sq/ft warehouse this week to allow the continued expansion of it's product offering and to maintain the current service levels offered. "Our new warehouse will be in addition to the current housed at the head office and more than doubles our overall storage capacity" commented John Smith, warehouse manager at Duro. "We need this extra space to support the current growth we are experiencing and with new products being launched all the time, I expect to be fully utilising this before then end of 2011".

DURO adds extra support to it's sales drive

To support the on-going drive to develop it's prescence in the UK and European constrcution distribution sector, DURO has launched a new free of charge support service. Simply named DURO SUPPORT, the company has introduced this service, which encompasses many real dealer benefits including bespoke promotional activity, access to the companies huge photographical archives, web site support and branded litterature. 'It's a service package which is available to all our dealers but until now it's been just something in the background. We wanted to make our dealers aware of the potential benefits of dealing with DURO and the level of support we can and do deliver day by day' commented Scott Devonshire, Commerce & Marketing Manager for DURO.
